I recently took part in an interview about song composition which has just appeared on Sabine Bergk's interesting and innovative podcast, Lied can Fly. Here are a couple of links, on Apple and Spotify.
The idea behind the podcast series seems to be that a single song can be a window into many musical and philiosophical ideas, and certainly a way to make a much wider enquiry into a composer's thinking and methods. I very much enjoyed the conversation, initially based on the opening of my song cycle The Voice of Desire (which, appropriately, is all about birds) but running to half an hour on all kinds of topics.
Pictured - I'm sure these Lancashire-based seagulls, seen and heard earlier this month off Fleetwood Bay would have something to say about this.
