It's encouraging for me to see several major performances of my music about to happen, but rather frustrating that they're all happening at once. The rehearsal and travel schedule lying behind these five concerts on three days is a particular diary headscratcher.
Wednesday 20 Nov
BIRMINGHAM - Sofi Jeannin is conducting Music Untangled with CBSO in Symphony Hall. This 8-minute overture, based on a Hebridean waulking song was written for the Boston Symphony Orchestra in 1991.
Thursday 21 Nov
BIRMINGHAM - William Howard will perform two pieces he commissioned and has faithfully championed, The Art of Touching the Keyboard and Fragile, at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
LONDON - The Leonkoro Quartet will give the London Premiere of my String Quartet no 2 (first performed at Aldeburgh this year) at Wigmore Hall. The concert will be Livestreamed (but not visitable after the live performance.)
Sunday 24 Nov
LONDON - The Royal Orchestral Society conducted by Rebecca Miller will give the London Premiere of New Every Morning in the Duke's Hall, Royal Academy of Music.
BARCELONA - The Leonkoro Quartet will perform my String Quartet No.2 in the lovely L'Auditori concert hall as part of their String Quartet Biennale.
(Pictured - This week I'm going to channel these calm horses in a field near Puchberg-am-Schneeberg, in Lower Austria).
